We made it to the Snowdon summit (and back again)

Team ViewPoint completed their charity climb to the top of Snowdon on the 28th September, completing the round trip in approximately 6 hours, and smashing their fundraising target.

Setting off from Coventry at 5am, the team began their ascent at 10 am from Pen-Y-Pass, starting out on the Pyg track. Andy and Dino, fancying a bigger challenge, soon headed off to tackle Crib Goch as the rest of the team continued along the Pyg track to the top. In almost perfect weather conditions the walk provided challenges for the whole team; it being the first time walking up a mountain for many.

A few snaps from our day

The view from the top was breath-taking, with clear views for miles on one side, although there was thick mist to the other. After taking a slightly longer and more difficult (short cut!?!) route than planned, Andy & Dino re-joined the group at the summit for a quick photo, before we started our descent. The miners track for one group and Pyg track for the others.

As a team-building day, it was a huge success, and we are all so proud to have reached our target of sending a child to school for a year in Burundi. Final figures are still being calculated, but once all collected in all money raised will be donated to Hope in Burundi. Here is what some of the climbers had to say about the day –

Jackson Kalta “An incredible journey with amazing people. Great to bond and work together, as well as raising money for a worthy cause.”

Claire Moseley “I’m not sure what hurt more the following day my legs from the walk or my ribs from all the laughs. It was a really great day with memories made for a lifetime.”

Nicky Allen “Despite my sore legs, this was one of the best experiences of my life so far.  Fantastic time with great people who worked as a team to get each and every one of us through the journey.”

Simon Lovell “Spending quality time with a quality team made the experience very enjoyable. Remember I love the Team, Team is very important to me and without the Team my life and other lives would not be as good... Team Team Team. I love you all”

Marianne McKeown, (aka Monster Maz) “Despite being nervous about the climb, I found myself actually enjoying it. There was no pressure, just encouragement, and I felt the team all achieved something great together and Monster Maz was kept at bay! However, I was disappointed there was no actual toffee apple cider (as promised by a passing climber) at the top!”

Simon Dean “Amazing camaraderie, fantastic weather, breath taking views, tired legs - totally awesome day! :)”

Huge thanks go to the members of the ViewPoint team that stayed back in the office to ensure our customers got any support they needed on the day. It’s your turn next!

That’s not all for fundraising in the office, our CEO Simon Rowland, has organised a charity 49-mile bike ride on the 6th October to raise money for Orphans in Kenya. You can read more about that here
